USDA Updates LMR Cattle Market Report

October 23, 2026

In an effort to increase transparency, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) has updated the Livestock Mandatory Reporting (LMR) cash cattle report. Beginning Monday, October 26, AMS will publish an additional regional cattle report using data from Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas. This data already is collected through the LMR system.

According to USDA, combining these states will increase the amount of data that can be publicly reported while remaining in line with confidentiality requirements. This also will allow market information from the regions of Colorado, Kansas and Texas/Oklahoma/New Mexico to again be included in the five-area report, along with Iowa/Minnesota and Nebraska.

KLA appreciates USDA and AMS working to provide additional information to improve transparency in the cattle markets. The new report will be housed here alongside other LMR reports on the AMS website.
