The 2026 Henry C. Gardiner Global Food Systems Lecture will feature nutrition researcher Yanni Papanikolaou, who will explore what large-scale nutrition data can and cannot explain about protein, dietary patterns and long-term health. The lecture will be held October 5 in McCain Auditorium, beginning at 7:00 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
Papanikolaou is president of Nutritional Strategies, where his work focuses on nutrition research and regulatory affairs. For more than 20 years, he has used data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to study relationships among food consumption, nutrient intake and health. His research has examined animal and plant protein, beans, grains, eggs and other foods. He will take the audience behind the data used to answer some of today's biggest nutrition questions.
The Gardiner Lecture Series is funded by the Gardiner family of Ashland in honor of the late Henry C. Gardiner and his contributions to the beef industry. For more information, click here.
