Kansas State University students Emma Aufdemberge of Leavenworth and Aubree Vering of Marysville each have been awarded $1,500 Doug Laue Memorial Scholarships through the Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF). Aufdemberge is the daughter of Mark and Katie Aufdemberge. Vering is the daughter of Brandon and Tracy Vering. Laue was a longtime member of the KLA Cattle Feeders Council and served as its chairman in 1991-92.
Kyler Geffert received the Scott Johnson and Family $1,000 Scholarship through KLF. Geffert is from Haven and is the son of Kyle and Megan Geffert. This scholarship is designated for students at K-State majoring in animal sciences and industry, agricultural and natural resources communications, agribusiness or agricultural economics. It’s given by the Johnson family in appreciation for the support of KLA and its staff throughout Scott’s health issues. Scott was the director of information technology at KLA from 2015 until his passing in 2021.
The Fred H. Woodbury Memorial $500 Scholarship was awarded by KLF to Eli Hauff of Emporia. Hauff, who is a student at K-State, is the son of Peter and Tina Hauff. This stipend is given in memory of Fred H. Woodbury, a longtime KLA member from Quenemo.
The Glenn and Clyde Lindstrom $1,000 Scholarship was awarded by KLF to Cade Gossen from Peabody, a Hutchinson Community College student. He is the son of Jeremy and Michele Gossen. The Lindstrom brothers operated a farming and cattle business near Falun. Upon their deaths in 2007, an endowment was created to assist students at the sophomore level and above attending a Kansas junior or senior college and pursuing a degree in agriculture.
