KLA Members Conduct Business At Cattle Industry Summer Meeting

July 17, 2026

KLA officers and staff attended the Cattle Industry Summer Business Meeting this week in Aurora, CO. KLA co-sponsored two resolutions that ultimately were adopted by the NCBA board of directors.

In the NCBA Property Rights and Environmental Management Committee, KLA offered a resolution calling for the elimination of the requirement for diesel exhaust fluid systems on new and late-model equipment used by livestock producers. KLA worked with the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association (ICA) to develop the policy.

KLA also worked with ICA, the Illinois Beef Association and the Wisconsin Cattlemen’s Association on a resolution to update NCBA’s policy regarding the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP). The language states that cattle are an essential management tool for maintaining healthy grasslands, improving plant diversity and achieving conservation outcomes. The resolution calls for increased flexibility in grazing CRP and eligibility for USDA cost-share programs to support grazing infrastructure.
