KLA members Brandon Greenwood and Perry Nowak recently participated in the NCBA Young Cattlemen’s Conference (YCC), which included 50 producers and beef industry leaders from across the country. The group gained a comprehensive understanding of the entire beef supply chain and engaged in grassroots advocacy during visits to NCBA headquarters in Denver, CO; a Five Rivers feedyard at Kersey, CO; a Tyson Fresh Meats processing plant and Empirical Foods at South Sioux City, NE; the Certified Angus Beef® corporate offices in Wooster, OH; and congressional offices in Washington, DC.
Greenwood, a rancher from Hamilton, serves on the KLA Stockgrowers Council Executive Committee. Nowak, of Scott City, is the manager at Fairleigh Feed Yard. He is vice chair of the KLA Cattle Feeders Council and a member of the board of directors.
The conference serves as a showcase for NCBA’s involvement in policymaking, issues management, research, education and marketing. More than 1,000 ranchers and feeders have graduated from the program since its inception in 1980.
