Dairy Month Begins Today

June 1, 2026

June is National Dairy Month and the perfect time to recognize Kansas dairy farmers and their long-standing commitment to providing wholesome foods to families across the state and the nation.

Kansas dairies produced 4.9 billion pounds of milk in 2025, with cash receipts from the sale of this milk totaling $1 billion. The average Kansas dairy cow produces about 7.65 gallons of milk per day. From March 2025 to March 2026, milk production climbed 25.4% in the Sunflower State. T

The dairy industry in Kansas is more than just milk; it also supports jobs and economic activity across the state. Kansas has 234,000 milk cows on more than 190 large and small dairy farms, all of which contribute to the local economy by supporting businesses and the community tax base.
