Gov. Laura Kelly declared May as Beef Month in Kansas during a proclamation signing April 30, where she recognized the contributions of more than 22,000 beef producers across the state. On hand for the signing were (L to R) Kansas Farm Bureau President Joe Newland from Neodesha; ranchers Dirck, Reed, Dayton and Natalie Hoagland of Leavenworth; rancher and State Board of Agriculture member Marsha Schilling of Edson; Kansas Department of Agriculture Agribusiness Development Coordinator Reese McPhail; and Kansas Beef Council (KBC) Manager of Industry Relations Weston Schrader.
Paired with the governor’s announcement, KBC rolled out a statewide campaign aimed at driving beef demand during one of the busiest beef-buying periods of the year—grilling season. As part of the campaign, KBC has placed 13 billboards in the state, with the majority positioned along I-70 to maximize visibility among daily commuters and families traveling in the summer. Some of the billboard headlines include “Today’s Forecast: 96 Degrees with 100% Chance of Steaks,” “Classic for a Reason” and “Kansas Beef: You’re Welcome.”
KBC also will launch two new video campaigns, created by Beef. It’s What’s For Dinner., built around the theme “Here’s to Beef, the One That Does It All.” These videos will run on YouTube, Hulu, Disney+, Paramount+, HBO Max and more, extending KBC’s reach across the state. Through engaging, educational content, the videos will highlight the versatility of beef in everyday meals and reinforce its role as a nutrient-dense source of high-quality protein.
Additionally, KBC has launched a refreshed website, offering consumers and producers a modernized experience with improved navigation, content and resources. The site is designed to showcase beef and the families who produce it, while also meeting the demands of consumers as summer grilling approaches. Check out the new website at www.kansasbeef.org.
