KBC Capitalizes On Beef Research To Connect With Health Professionals

May 22, 2025

To coincide with both Beef Month and Mediterranean Diet Month, the Kansas Beef Council (KBC) has expanded its efforts to engage health professionals throughout May by launching the Beef in a Mediterranean Diet toolkit. Designed to highlight how lean beef can be part of a balanced, heart-healthy eating pattern, the toolkit reinforces years of checkoff-funded research supporting beef’s role in cardiometabolic health.

Each kit sent to healthcare offices includes Mediterranean-inspired beef recipe cards, patient-friendly handouts on incorporating beef into a Mediterranean diet and a scientific research update booklet summarizing key studies showing favorable health outcomes when lean beef is included as the protein of choice.

Thanks to collaboration with other state beef councils, 665 toolkits were distributed across 14 states, reaching an estimated 66,500 patients and clients with accurate, actionable beef nutrition education.

In addition to the toolkits, KBC provided a continuing education webinar for more than 50 retail dietitians. The session explored how beef’s nutrient profile has evolved, particularly in response to shifting consumer preferences. Dietitians also learned how to better identify a variety of beef cuts that support affordability, convenience and portion control. The presentation emphasized how beef fits into modern dietary patterns as a flavorful option and a nutritious protein that supports health and wellness.

These efforts continue to showcase how producer investments in the beef checkoff are working to grow demand by equipping health professionals with credible, science-based resources, making beef a trusted and relevant part of their patient recommendations.
