The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is conducting a study to improve highway mobility, safety and accessibility in southwest Kansas. KDOT will examine safety, traffic, roadway conditions, economic influences, environmental factors and public feedback. The study encompasses 44 counties in KDOT Districts 2, 3, 5 and 6, and will consider impacts to the broader transportation network in adjoining states and areas.
KDOT is hosting six in-person public meetings that will allow for feedback on specific issues, including the addition of four lanes, passing lanes and other safety enhancements, as well as current transportation conditions and plans for the study. Meeting dates and locations are May 20 in Pratt and Great Bend; May 21 in Garden City and Scott City; and May 22 in Liberal and Dodge City. More details can be found here.
