U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has announced the latest slate of presidential appointments for key Farm Service Agency (FSA) and Rural Development state director roles. David Schemm of Sharon Springs was appointed as Kansas FSA state executive director and Gimmie Jo Jansonius from Long Island was selected to serve as the state director for Kansas Rural Development.

Schemm formerly held this position during the first Trump administration. He also has served as an agricultural advisor for U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall. Schemm works with his wife, Lisa, and son, Clay, on their western Kansas farm.

Jansonius is a sixth-generation rancher. Her family’s business consists of a cow-calf herd, small row crop farm and direct beef sales enterprise.
