Leathers, Schultz Elected To Lead U.S. CattleTrace

January 7, 2025

Joe Leathers of Guthrie, TX, will serve as the chairman of U.S. CattleTrace in 2025. Leathers brings decades of experience and leadership in the cattle industry. He began his career as a cowboy at 19, eventually joining the 6666 Ranch in 1998. Over the years, he rose through the ranks, becoming general manager in 2008. Leathers’ involvement with U.S. CattleTrace began in 2011, when he recognized the value of electronic ID and actively participated in pilot programs that led to the organization’s formation. His commitment to a producer-driven, voluntary and efficient traceability program has been a cornerstone of his contributions.

Cory Schultz from Shepherd, MT, will serve alongside Leathers as chair-elect. Schultz is a Northern Livestock Video representative and manages cattle sales at both Public Auction Yards and Billings Livestock Commission. He is committed to fostering producer-driven traceability solutions and strengthening industry connections.
