(MANHATTAN) – Thirty-five members of the Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) were honored during the group’s convention November 20 for decades of loyalty to the association. The total number of members who have remained loyal to KLA for five decades now stands at 181.
Those who joined KLA in 1974 and reached the half-century mark this year were Beachner Bros. Livestock, Parsons; William Brethour, Maple Hill; Burkdoll Brothers Inc., Rantoul; Tom Carr, Medicine Lodge; Dave Casement, Sedan; Mike and Pam Collinge, Hamilton; Larry Corah, Manhattan; David Cross, Lewis; Stephen Donley, Ellsworth; Henry Eggers, Yates Center; Five Rivers Cattle Feeding/Grant County Feeders, Ulysses; Grabbe Farms, Hays; Jerry Grout, Mankato, Terry and Paul Handke, Muscotah; Tony Imm, Phillipsburg; Kansas State Bank of Overbrook and Scranton; Kueser Brothers Farms, Richmond; James “Tony” Meseke, Alma; Thomas Perrier, Eureka; Jerald Riemann, Dighton; Loyd Schoen, Lenora; Rex Schultze, Osborne; George Teagarden, La Cygne; Lafe Wilson, Uniontown; and James Zwonitzer, Horton.
Joining KLA in 1964 and reaching the 60-year membership mark were Gartrell Farms, Stockton; Geffert Herefords, Haven; Gilliland Cattle Co. LLC, Leon; and Brad Tate, Welch, OK.
Celebrating 70 years of membership were Adams Cattle Company, Plains; the late Marilyn Fairbairn, Edmond, OK; Jack MacNair, Dodge City; and Tony Renollet, Sterling.
U.S. Bank of Topeka joined the association in 1944, achieving eight decades of continuous membership. Leonhard Ranch of Berryton marked 90 years of membership, joining KLA in 1934.
KLA is a 5,700-member trade organization representing the state’s livestock business on legislative, regulatory and industry issues at both the state and federal levels. The association’s work is funded through voluntary dues dollars paid by its members.
