Kansans Take Leadership Roles In BIF

June 17, 2020

The Beef Improvement Federation (BIF) announced new directors and officers last week during the organization’s annual meeting, which was hosted virtually this year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Joe Mushrush of Strong City will serve as president, with Matt Perrier from Eureka being named vice president. John Irvine of Manhattan was elected to serve on the BIF Board of Directors. Additionally, Kansas State University cow-calf extension specialist Bob Weaber was announced as the new BIF executive director. Weaber will continue in his capacity at K-State, while serving in this position.

KLA members Kevin and Lydia Yon of Ridge Spring, SC, were named BIF Seedstock Producer of the Year. They own Yon Family Farms, which consists of a registered Angus cowherd and a diversified farming operation. The American Angus Association and Clemson University nominated the Yon family for this award.

More than 1,200 beef producers, academia and industry stakeholders registered to participate in the virtual meeting. BIF’s mission is to promote greater acceptance of cattle performance evaluation.
