Health and nutrition are top-of-mind for consumers and can be a barrier when deciding to purchase beef. However, with more dietitians working in retail grocery, there’s an opportunity for meat departments and dietitians to work together to help consumers understand the meatcase and the nutritional benefits of beef, enhance food safety and provide seasonal meal solutions.
With this in mind, the Kansas Beef Council is providing consumer-facing holiday resources to 24 registered dietitians and meat departments in Kansas and Kansas City metro Hy-Vee grocery store locations. These resources aim to help consumers choose the best roast for their holiday needs by providing beef cut recommendations, roasting guidelines and recipes. Dietitians choosing to lead in-store cooking and tasting demonstrations also can use this information to engage consumers by sharing quick tips on beef’s nutrition and versatility. In addition, resource materials placed at the point of sale make it easier for busy shoppers to cook beef at home during the holidays and make it clear they are endorsed by the in-store dietitian.
