Beef Month in Kansas leads up to the start of the summer grilling season, which officially begins Memorial Day weekend. The Kansas Beef Council (KBC) is using the May celebration to help consumers become more confident in their cooking skills by providing grilling tips and recipes at www.kansasbeef.org.
In addition, KBC staff will continue emphasizing the role beef plays in a healthy, balanced diet. For example, consumers are hearing beef provides 10 essential nutrients, including zinc, iron, protein and B vitamins in a 3-ounce serving.
Beef nutrition research also is being shared with key health and nutrition influencers across the state through various programs. One such program will be held next week. Nutrition Adventure is a biennial invitation-only experience hosted by the Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and Oklahoma beef councils for registered dietitians from across the U.S. who are leading nutrition communicators.
