Meat Export Executive Named New Beef Board CEO

The Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion & Research Board (CBB) has named Gregory Hanes as the organization’s new chief executive officer (CEO). Hanes will begin in the position June 17.

He comes to CBB from the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF) in Denver, where he most recently was vice president of international marketing programs. Hanes served as the USMEF liaison to the beef industry and worked closely with a variety of national and state beef organizations. From 2006 to 2009, he was director of the USMEF office in Tokyo, Japan.

Hanes has a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colorado College. He earned a master’s degree in international management from the Thunderbird School of Management at Arizona State University. Hanes was born and raised in Cheyenne, WY.

CBB oversees collection of the $1-per-head checkoff on all cattle sold in the U.S. and the equivalent on imported cattle, beef and beef products. The organization is responsible for approving the annual budget for national checkoff-funded programs.
