In honor of Heart Month, Kansas Beef Council Director of Nutrition Abby Heidari, RDN, LD, appeared on the WIBW-13 TV morning show last week to discuss the health benefits of eating lean beef. Heidari shared with viewers the details of a recent study from the University of Purdue that revealed including lean red meat, like beef, in a Mediterranean-style diet can support heart health. The study was co-funded by the beef checkoff.
During the segment, she shared a Greek “Bowl with Balance” recipe using a grilled KC Strip Steak and provided tips for consumers on how to select lean cuts of beef at the meat counter.
