Cattle Health Provisions Included In Senate Bill

June 17, 2025

Last week, the U.S. Senate Agriculture Committee released legislative text for the Senate’s version of the “big beautiful bill.” Included in the legislation are cattle health measures supported by NCBA and KLA that will help protect the livelihoods of farmers and ranchers.

“A successful farm or ranch starts with healthy cattle and, as cattle producers face increasing risk of a foreign animal disease outbreak, the need for robust cattle health provisions is even more crucial,” said NCBA Executive Director of Government Affairs Tanner Beymer.

The Senate legislation advances policy passed in the House version of the bill, including support for the National Animal Disease Preparedness and Response Program, the National Animal Health Laboratory Network and the National Animal Vaccine and Veterinary Countermeasures Bank. Together, these three programs help safeguard the U.S. cattle industry.

NCBA is urging the Senate to pass these provisions so they quickly can become law.
