NCBA President Elect Jennifer Houston will be the opening speaker at the National Institute for Animal Agriculture (NIAA) Strategy Forum on Livestock Traceability this month in Kansas City. The forum will take place September 24-26 at the Westin Crown Center Hotel.
Houston, a livestock auction market operator, said beyond the current Animal Disease Traceability program, questions remain about what else traceability can do for the industry. She said working with NIAA and other groups to find solutions to important issues like data ownership and liability makes sense.
The forum in Kansas City also will feature a panel discussion including KLA Chief Executive Officer Matt Teagarden and other state stakeholders; reports from the USDA traceability team and the Cattle Traceability Working Group; and a showcase highlighting the most current technology, products and services focused on cattle traceability.
