A dozen ranches from across the state will compete in the 30th annual Kansas Championship Ranch Rodeo (KCRR), September 28-29 at Medicine Lodge. The 12 teams were invited to participate after qualifying at various ranch rodeo events over the past year.
Ranch teams entered in the rodeo are from Alfalfa County of Sun City, Beachner at Erie, Buck Creek/Arrow H of Cottonwood Falls and Topeka, C5T/Scribner at El Dorado, Eight Over Quarter Circle/Stinson of Abilene, Haywire at El Dorado, Lonesome Pine of Cedar Point, Nelson/Flying W of Leonardville, Rezac at Onaga, Robbins/Keith of Allen, Snyder/Woolfolk of Coldwater and Stock/Felt at Redfield. C5T/Scribner won last year’s state championship.
Working cowboys and cowgirls will compete in two go-arounds of ranch bronc riding, wild cow milking, calf branding, team penning and stray gathering.
The top team at KCRR will qualify for the World Championship Ranch Rodeo, November 8-11 in Amarillo, TX. Tickets to KCRR are available in advance or at the gate. Click here for more information.
KCRR is being held during the Medicine Lodge Indian Peace Treaty, September 28-30. The event will include a reenactment of the peace treaty signing, a parade, pow-wow and night show.
