The Kansas Stockman received several awards during the Agricultural Media Summit earlier this month in Scottsdale, AZ. As part of the annual Livestock Publications Council (LPC) contest, an article from the November/December 2017 issue won third place in the production/management category. The article, “Cow costs cut in semi-confinement system,” was written by Stockman Editor Todd Domer. Domer also received honorable mention in the regular column category for three columns he wrote for the Stockman in 2017. An article written by Stockman Editorial Assistant Scarlett Hagins won third place in the technical article category. The article, titled “Addressing the FMD vaccine dilemma,” appeared in the April 2017 issue.
This year’s contest had a total of 420 entries. LPC is a professional improvement organization consisting of more than 200 members from the U.S and Canada.
