Kenny Knight of Lyons passed away May 30 at the age of 82. He served as KLA president in 1980 and was a member of the original board of directors for both KLA Risk Management Services, founded in 1993, and KLA Environmental Services, established in 2001. He also was a charter member of the Cattlemen’s Beef Board, serving from 1986 to 1992.
Knight was a passionate farmer and a pioneer in the cattle industry, forming, along with his father and brother, Knight Farms in 1961 and Knight Feedlot in 1972. Other business interests included Bar K Bar Trucking and grazing cattle in the Flint Hills. Knight also served on the board of directors for Innovative Livestock Services and was a member of the Beef Marketing Group.
Visitation will take place today (6/4) at The First Christian Church, 220 West Ave. South, Lyons, KS, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 5, at The Celebration Centre, 1145 East Hwy 56. Burial will occur at the Lyons Municipal Cemetery, followed by a luncheon at the Celebration Centre. All are invited.
