One of the highlights of the upcoming KLA Convention in Wichita will come during the November 28 banquet when Jansonius Farms of Prairie View is recognized for 100 years of consecutive membership. Jansonius is KLA’s longest-standing member, having joined in 1918. Glenn Jansonius and his son, Jaiden, the fourth and fifth generations to maintain the family’s membership, are planning to be in attendance for the observance.
Brothers John and Garrit Jansonius began raising registered Herefords in 1916. Subsequent generations of the family continued in the Hereford business until the cattle were sold in 2012. Members of the Jansonius family continue to farm in Phillips County.
Joining the Jansonius family in the spotlight at the banquet will be five members who have reached the 50-year mark with KLA and two others that hit the 60-year milestone this year. The 50-year honorees will be John Atwater of Netawaka, Paul Hayse of Mullinville, R.P. “Pat” Ireland from Muscotah, Laue Charolais Ranch of Hanover and Sublette Feeders. Those joining in 1958 and maintaining their KLA membership since are Centera Bank of Sublette and the Kansas Motor Carriers Association in Topeka.
Mitch Holthus, the voice of the Kansas City Chiefs, will be the keynote speaker at the Wednesday evening convention banquet. For more information or to register for the KLA Convention, click here.
