The largest youth livestock show in Kansas gets underway today (10/5) at the state fairgrounds in Hutchinson. More than 2,000 head of livestock, including cattle, swine, sheep and goats will be shown by 806 exhibitors throughout the weekend at the Kansas Junior Livestock Show (KJLS). KLA, along with Kansas State University, are the major sponsors of the show.
The Kansas Livestock Foundation (KLF) will sponsor a club calf show and sale in conjunction with KJLS. Steer and heifer prospects from some of the top club calf producers in the Midwest will be consigned. The sale will be held October 6, with commission proceeds going toward KLF Youth in Agriculture scholarships. For more information on the sale, click here.
In addition to KLA and K-State, hundreds of volunteers from across the state help organize and put on the show. For a complete schedule of KJLS events, click here.
