DONATES TO LMA STORM RELIEF EFFORT
(TOPEKA) – The Kansas Livestock Association (KLA) Executive Committee has voted to
further relief efforts initiated by the Livestock Marketing Association to help
victims of early May tornadoes in southwest Kansas. KLA and the Texas Cattle
Feeders Association (TCFA) each have donated $5,000 to buy and distribute free
fencing supplies to affected producers.
Ranchers
in the path of the storms had miles of fence destroyed or heavily damaged. Funds
contributed by KLA and TCFA will be used to purchase replacement posts and
barbed wire. These items will be available for pickup, free-of-charge to
producers who experienced damage. Distribution will take place May 18-19 at the
Pratt Livestock auction market. KLA President David Cross of Lewis, several KLA
county directors and Pratt Livestock owner Mike Lewis will be on hand to help
load materials.
“KLA,
as an organization and through individual members, is doing what it can to help
ranchers hit hard by severe weather,” said Cross.
Those
who would like to make monetary donations to this effort can do so by sending a
check to KLA at 6031 S.W. 37th, Topeka, Kansas
66614. Please specify it is for the
Greensburg
relief effort in the memo line. For more information, call Lewis at (620)
