Reward Program

  • KLA has a theft reward program to help protect its members. Up to $2,500 is paid for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those stealing, killing or seriously injuring livestock. The victim must be a KLA member. The reward also may apply in cases of theft of livestock equipment, tack or pharmaceuticals.

Legal Questions

  • KLA has two full-time staff attorneys. In many cases, when you're facing a legal question, a simple call to the KLA office could save you hundreds of dollars in legal fees.

Use Value

  • Kansas farmland is valued - and taxed - on its specific use based on its inherent ability to produce. This protects ag land from being valued as commercial property or at "fair market value." Use value is calculated based on expenses, crop mix and commodity prices.

Threatened and Endangered Species

  • KLA is fighting for amendments to the state's Threatened and Endangered Species Act to assure normal and legal activities on private farms and ranches are not regulated, and to provide financial incentives for landowners who voluntarily provide habitat for threatened or endangered species.

Water Quality

  • KLA continues to monitor proposed water quality regulations to ensure they are based on common-sense and science.
